We should not visit our dentist when there is already a problem or when we are in pain. The dentist can offer more when the teeth are strong than when they start to decay.
When a carious cavity appears in the tooth, then the damage cannot be restored by itself and the intervention of the dentist is required to stop the damage. Thus, early intervention, diagnosis and appropriate treatment are important. Early diagnosis and treatment are also of great importance for periodontal disease. Research has proven the importance of regular dental cleanings combined with daily care in fighting periodontal disease.
Regular visits to the dentist are also vital for the early diagnosis of other diseases of the oral cavity that may affect the patient (e.g. fungal infections, autoimmune diseases, etc.) and/or become life-threatening (e.g. mouth cancer).
Usually visits to the dentist should be done every six months. Depending on the individual oral conditions, the dentist will advise accordingly for each case.
